About this Holiday House

Two self contained cottages set in the bounds of historic Chelston Farm. Chelston was established in 1870, firstly as a steam driven sawmill, then from 1910 it was farmed. The Chelston cottages are unique slices of New Zealand farming history. The old Shearers Quarters from 1942 has a beautiful private outlook with the sights and sounds of the country. Both cottages are separate from each other in their own worlds. The old Stables accommodation is a real slice of Kiwi history. It is a unique opportunity to experience and stay in a genuine early century cottage with all the modern comforts and beautiful views. Close to native bush, abundant bird life and all grades of walking from the fit to the frail. Established gardens, wonderful elevated views out to sea. Absolute seclusion peace and natural beauty. Broadband internet service available onsite.

What a magical place to stay over the long weekend. The stables are gorgeous - quirky, comfortable and cosy. Waking up to beautiful bird song each morning and star gazing at night - pretty awsome. Loved meeting your beautiful family and hanging out with the chooks too. Thank you so much for your hospitality and sharing your piece of paradise with us..

A remote, dog friendly farm stay, reached via an unsealed road between Port Levy and Little River. Make sure to take your food supplies with you. We stayed in the Shearers Quarters which is an older building and very small. We enjoyed the peaceful setting, having chooks visit and hearing the array of surrounding bird call. Owners were friendly. We enjoyed our stay, but found it a little cramped and the building would benefit from some TLC.

A slice of paradise in a quiet valley location with great views and hosts. Had 3 great nights in the Shearer's Quarters which has to be one of the most rustic cottages you could stay in. Fantastic setting, comfortable and well equipped. Thanks Mike and Zylpha for the stay and the great memories we will cherish.
