Hokimai was built in the 1880s but has been fully restored and modernised while retaining its unique historic New Zealand heritage character. More than just a bed and breakfast, when you book Hokimai you get exclusive enjoyment of the house, and its modern amenities and garden.
The tariff includes light starter breakfast provisions of museli, cornflakes, toast, jams, butters, a selection of teas and plunger coffee.
Hokimai is decorated in 19th century French country style; and with five bedrooms Hokimai offers flexible accommodation options: 2 King, 3 Queen and 1 Single beds.
The King beds can be made into single beds, so one bedroom can be configured to have 3 Single beds if required. A second bedroom can be made into twin beds.
Hokimai has a large well-equipped kitchen with a big oven and five gas burner range that is great for entertaining. Outdoor patios are great for breakfast or dining in summer. The woodburner and stocked woodshed make it so cosy and warm in winter. Wellington is about 75 minutes drive and an interesting journey by train.
