Rapanui is up and running again following the February 22 and June 13, 2011 earthquakes. There is no damage to the apartment and broken china etc has been replaced with new. Sumner is still as beautiful as it ever was. There is damage to cliff faces and some shops in the village are closed or demolished, but essential businesses like cafes, post shop, ATM, and supermarket are open. The road access is a bit rough but okay. I am looking forward to welcoming guests to the new post-quake Christchurch. In time, it will be a beautiful, low-rise, people friendly, green and sustainable little city. You're gonna love it!

Paragliding, walking and cycling tracks, and horseriding closeby in scenic Port Hills. Ideally located at the start of the scenic route to Banks Peninsula and historic Akaroa and for excursions further afield to other Canterbury attractions, including ski fields, and hot springs.
