About this Holiday House
Room for extended family. Large garden, sea views. 5 mins drive to Pohara/Tata.
Remember holidays by the beach with the whole family when you were a kid? Sun, sand, and heaps of room to run around outside?
Theo’s place is a slice of nostalgic heaven. This holiday home has been in the same family for decades and its spaciousness and time-stood-still charm are enjoyed by both new and repeat guests, who return year after year with kids and grandkids in tow.
All bedrooms (and one toilet) are upstairs. The open plan living downstairs allows your family to enjoy valuable leisure time together, with French doors opening onto the north-facing deck bringing the outside in. From the deck you have views over grassy fields to Ligar Bay - a great place for a barbie and a cold one. From here, you can watch the kids play, with plenty of room to kick a ball around, set up a volleyball net or play backyard cricket.
Kayaks and a pool table in the games room will keep older ones happily occupied, too.
A 10-acre property set back from the road, a flat stroll to the beach past pohutukawa, pukeko, pheasants, quail and more. You have plenty of parking for your cars or boat. (Note: we are on tank water here, so please use the public boat wash at Tarakohe).
With mild Ligar Bay winters and a cosy wood fire, Theo’s is a great place to stay any time of year.
Only 5 mins from Pohara’s cafes and dairy, Tata Beach, the golf course or fishing at Tarakohe Wharf. 15 mins from Takaka. 30 mins from Totaranui. A great base for further afield, too - Te Waikoropupu Springs, Wharariki and Farewell Spit are within easy reach.
Kayaks - 1 single/1 double - are available on request at time of booking, along with 2 adult life vests (med and large) plus one child’s (medium), and 2 trolleys for transporting kayaks to the beach.
