Rongo-moana is a freshly painted and carpeted three bedroomed 1950s bungalow 100 metres from the lake, set amongst native bush.
The house is fully furnished including outdoor furniture and a BBQ for outside meals and entertaining. Inside there is a lounge and kitchen with two double bedrooms, each with a double bed and a smaller bedroom that we use for kids which contains 2 sets of bunks. The lounge also has a couch which folds out into a double bed.
There are plenty of duvets for cooler nights. The house sleeps up to 6 people.
Mitchells is not on the National Grid & therefore there is no mains power. The house is powered by modern solar power as well as having a generator housed in the garage which turns on via a simple switch from within the house. There is also a gas oven, coal range, large gas fridge and freezer and gas automatic hot water.

Great spot far from the madding crowd!! Beautiful weather and lovely peaceful bach only minutes from the lake. We found lots to do and had a great time exploring the area on mountain bikes and kayaking on the lake. We'll be back.

Mitchells is a small settlement of five houses on the southern shores of Lake Brunner on the West Coast of the South Island in New Zealand. It has a concrete boat ramp.
There are big trout here!
Two lovely but easy going walks, the Bain Bay Walkway and the Carew Falls track originate here. Nearby are also the more challenging Mount French and Te Kinga tramping tracks. Mountain Bikers can enjoy the Aratika to Mitchells track(from the Kennnet Book).
Approximately 200kms by road from the South Island major city of Christchurch, Lake Brunner can be reached through with a stunning two and a half hour drive through some of the South Islands most dramatic scenery including the Canterbury Plains, Waimakariri braided river, Castle Rock, and Arthurs Pass. It is only 40 minutes from Greymouth.
