Within walking distance (or from your window) are many native birds and animals & also all the regular farmyard animals. Walk to see glow-worms or enjoy a picnic or a swim at the river. Picnic hampers available by request.
Within easy driving distance (local) are the Motu Falls,Whinray Reserve and the mighty Motu river, world renowned for trout fishing and Motu Rd cycle trail, (transport available).
A wee bit further away is the Waioeka Gorge & river, and in the other direction (only 1 hour) are all the neat attractions of Gisborne and its wonderfull beaches.
