Punanga is a lovely two-bedroom (1 Queen and 2 singles) waterfront cottage in one of the most beautiful areas in New Zealand - Golden Bay. Set in a quiet, private location and looking out over the ever changing blues and turquoises of the sea, Punanga (Maori for "sanctuary") is an ideal retreat from the hectic pace of 21st century living. Sit on the deck and listen to the gently lapping waves and be visited by tuis, bellbirds, wood pigeons or fantails or hop in your car and visit some of the many nearby attractions. Milnthorpe Beach, a sparsely populated sandy beach which is great for swimming and walking, is just a two minute walk along the waterfront.

This property is a piece of heaven. Spent 5 nights of our honeymoon here. It is very well appointed and so relaxing and peaceful. The scenery and view are truly beautiful and golden bay has plenty to do and see. Thankyou.

'Punanga' is just a two minute stroll along the waterfront to Milnthorpe Beach, a beautiful unspoiled beach which is sparsely populated and great for walking and swimming. If you feel energetic a one hour walk along the beach will bring you to Collingwood where you can reward yourself with a meal or coffee or, perhaps, chocolates from Rosy Glow (NZ made). The cottage also backs onto Milnthorpe Reserve which has a number of good walking trails and a sculpture trail highlighting the works of some of Golden Bay's many artists. We are only a 15 minute drive to Takaka which is probably the best place to purchase supplies. In addition to the local supermaket (Fresh Choice), Takaka has an excellent organic food store. It also has a cinema and a number of very good restaurants and cafes. For night life try the popular Mussel Inn (just a 5 minute drive from Milnthorpe) - a unique cafe and performer's venue where all age groups will feel welcome. Home brewed beer and foot tapping music are the specialities.
