Horoeka Cottage, $100 - $140

Endeavour Inlet, Queen Charlotte Sound, via Picton
Ref #: 18482
This genuine Kiwi bach, in Endeavour Inlet, provides comfortable accommodation for 6-7. It has a glorious view out over the bay, is private, light and sunny, child-and family-friendly. It is set in an extensive bush garden (3.5Ha), with paths, hidden spaces and rocky streams to explore. There is a 4-minute walk up from the Pines jetty, and a 5-minute walk to a safe swimming beach. There is a mooring and dinghy available.
There is no road access to this remote and beautiful part of the Sounds. There are launch services available - with several trips each day leaving Picton. The cottage has satellite broadband access, CD player and radio. There is no phone or mobile signal here - however, phone calls out can be made on request.
Twenty minutes' easy walk along the Queen Charlotte Track, through one of the last areas of virgin coastal forest in the Sounds, takes you to Furneaux Lodge (with bar, café, restaurant and large country garden), and 4 hours' walk in the opposite direction takes you to historic Ship Cove. Many of our guests take the opportunity to go for short or longer walks along the Track. Scheduled launch services will drop off groceries (if ordered the day before), or will take you over to Punga Cove for the return four-hour walk, or pick you up from Ship Cove if you walk in that direction.
Wake up in the mornings to the song of bell-birds and tui, and look out for the cheeky weka, and fantails and kereru during the day. At this lovely place you can relax with family or friends, have a peaceful or romantic holiday with just one friend, or use the cottage as your base for short or long expeditions.
