The perfect romantic get-away. Margaret is a fantastic host and the cottage was everything we hoped it would be and YES, the shower is amazing! :)

We're Aucklanders and its such a wonderful feeling knowing that we can escape the smog and be surrounded by nature, in as little as 20 minutes, to relax, unwind and recapture our sanity :p

I forgot to pack a toothbrush and what do you know, Margaret has all these little details taken care of. I also left my mp3 cord behind and she posted it to me.. thank you and hopefully I don't forget more things the next time we come and stay hehe :p

Don't let Winter weather put you off, the cottage is super cosy and has lots of extra warm blankets (including electric blanket) to snuggle into with a hot cuppa and a good book.

We'll definitely be back :) I have a score to settle with our game of Scrabble. Thank you again Margaret.

What an amazing, relaxing and peaceful place to stay! The cottage had lots of character and was well stocked with blankets and heaters if you are going in winter. It was amazing to wake up to the native birds singing and there are lots of bush walks around to explore the natural beauty of this area. The outside shower was also fantastic! I highly recommend this place if you want to relax and explore the west coast.
Thanks Margaret!

Of all our stays in New Zealand, this was by far the best! Every aspect of this cottage was just sublime. Some say that the little things are what matter... and in this instance, there were so many little things that just made us feel so at home, yet so removed from the rest of the world as if we were in our very own fairytale. We managed to visit Te Henga (Bethell's Beach) and the sand dunes that lead right up to the ocean (what a spectacular sight!). Unfortunately, we didn't have enough time to visit the various hiking trails that Margaret (owner) suggested, so it'll have to be a must for next time. I'm so happy that we found this place, and believe me, when we return to NZ, we'll definitely be staying here again. Thank you so much Margaret for your hospitality and this truly wonderful place :)

My partner and I needed a getaway that was tranquil and peace-filled after a hectic period of time. Te Aute Ridge Cottage was just perfect. From the cosy crochet blankets resting on the comfy armchair, to the stunning vista that greets you as you awaken in the morning- the wee cottage quickly works its magic on you and you relax into it. Thank you for such a wonderful (albeit brief) stay Margaret, you were a warm and welcoming host who has an eye for beauty. We will be back.

The eco friendliness is also really important to the natural setting. Margaret had even left a birthday card for me, and all the fresh eggs, bread, milk and juice were a welcome surprise. Thanks for a lovely stay, we'll definitely be back again.

We LOVED the outdoor shower like standing under a waterfall
in the bush!
So many special touches like all the eco products and absence
of chemicals added to the relaxation as I get sick from the
myriad of chemicals most accomdations use.
Totally magic to come back to Te Henga where I spent
blissful childhood summers in 60s and 70s
The same timeless magic is in this lovely place
Thank you Margeret for the generous hospitality.
We are already planning our next visit!!

It's still hard to believe that a place like this exists in less than 30 minute drive from the city. Highly recommended, although we would much prefer to keep it a secret!

We loved our stay! A beautiful eco friendly place to unwind and such a welcome change from our hectic lives in Sydney. Waking up to the glorious views of the ranges and bushland was blissful, showering outdoors quite exhilarating and Margaret's homemade bread (still warm!) was delicious. Plenty of spectacular walks and the famous Bethells Beach to explore... I can't recommend it more highly.
