Walk to local shops and restaurants, lie on the lawn and watch the birds, or go down the steps to the 2km long pohutukawa-lined beach for safe swimming, boating, water sports or fishing. The headlands offer walking trails with stunning views. Historic Mangonui village is handy. Within a short drive are the Whangaroa Harbour and the Karekare peninsula with matchless Matai Bay and the Carrington vineyard and golf course. You can find a brilliant new beach every day for a fortnight. But we often get no further than Coopers Beach itself!
