389 Harbour Rd, Ohiwa, $100 - $170

389 Ohiwa harbour Rd , Ohiwa
Ref #: 1668
New Zealand the way it used to be
The relatively undiscovered Ohiwa beach lies directly across the harbour mouth from popular Ohope beach.
It is part of the continuum of classic white surf beaches that extend from Mount Maunganui to Opotiki. The community is small and mostly confined to the harbour edge.
These two cottages are uniquely positioned on a large tree clad section on the sand spit between the ocean beach and the harbour. There are no sea views but they have the advantage of privacy and protection from the wind
Just 50 metres away, the sheltered Ohiwa harbour is renowned for its mangroves, shellfish, flounder and sunsets.
50 metres in the opposite direction takes you to the pohutukawa fringed surf beach with its safe swimming ,superb surf casting and abundant bird life.
There are no shops, no phone and no television.
The main cottage sleeps a maximum of five people. It has one bedroom ,with a double bed ,which opens onto the back porch, the afternoon sun and BBQ area .
There are two single beds in the living area.
A roll away bed is available though this is more suitable for a child.
The kitchen is well serviced. The living area is light and airy and opens onto a deck area beneath the old pohutukawa tree in the front garden.
The second cottage: "The Hobbit House" is tucked away at the rear of the property. This is a tiny but charming dwelling with a double bed in the living room and separate bathroom and kitchen.
It has its own outdoor dining area.
This can be rented in conjunction with the main cottage to accommodate extra guests but,to ensure your privacy, will not be rented separately.
Both cottages have been decorated with warmth and creativity thus retaining the "traditional bach" atmosphere but ensuring they are fresh and clean.
