There are also many sites in the surrounding district and the buzz of Wellington, the cultural capital is just a 55 min train or car-ride away island.

It is just a 1 minute walk to the safe swimming beach, where you can fish or just relax....or take the 10min walk to the bars and cafes. A brick path wanders down the quaint garden, with roses, large totara and other trees attracting NZ Native birds. A large flat lawn at the end of the garden is perfect for playing ball or jumping on the trampoline. You can pick your own grapefruit and lemons.

We had an awesome time staying here ......the beach was a 5 minute stroll the shops for the morning walk was 10 mins and just enough time for you to finish your ice cream while walking on the beach.The kitchen and dinning room worked while ... Read more

A number of attractions are just 15-20 mins drive from here. See the ancient Tuatara lizard up close at Nga Manu nature reserve, or browse through the art galleries, shops and cheese factory at Lindale, If you like horses, take a ride at the historical Queen Elizabeth park. If you prefer chocolate, visit our well-known chocolate factory. Of special intrigue is the scenic Kapiti island (predator free) home to some rare birdlife, and boasting a superb view from the walk to it's summit (boat bookings and permits required).
