If you would like peace and quiet, fantastic views, wonderful walks, amazing rivers and a perfect cottage to live in then this is for you! We stayed here in December 2014 with my three teenagers and it was wonderful. At first I thought it might be a bit too remote but everyone found great things to do! Although I think we wore out the grass through thorough use of the badminton set! Just make sure you have lots of supplies to keep you going for a few days as it takes a while to get to the cottage, but thoroughly worth it. Kaikoura is a beautiful place to visit and spend the day and watch all the seals!

Hi Janet,
I was thrilled to read your comment.Although it is just a cottage and a bit old fashioned I'm so pleased people still like coming to see the past!! They do have character that new homes don't have.Hope you will come again sometime. So thankyou very much.

This was our second visit and definitely not our last. We bought sister and brother-in-law with us this time and they were enthralled with the peace and tranquility. Robyn's generousity and hospitality is a genuine delight. The property is homely and comfortable, and retains the charm of a time gone by, but with all the comforts of a modern home. We hope to be back in 2014 and highly recommend this property.

Stayed 4 nights at Woodbank and was very sad to leave… the Cottage is just perfect. Very comfortable bed, great quality linen and towels, fantastic fire and all the kitchen facilities you need, an extremely clean and tidy cottage and having a soak in the bath at the end of the day was wonderful. I also loved that the TV was not the ‘main feature’ of the lounge room, however there is a new TV in the bedroom, which is great to have for watching DVD’s if it rains. It’s the perfect location for exploring Kaikoura region, however there is lots to explore around the cottage, so absolutely no need to venture too far if you don’t want to. I would highly recommend staying here and will definitely stay here the next time I’m in the area. 10 out of 10! Loved it.

After the noise of Sydney the silence of Woodbank is superb. The house is spick and span, crisp linen and fuffy towels, lots of goodies in the cupboards yet still has the comfortable feeling of grandma's house. The view from the front porch is magnetic. We spent hours just sitting and enjoying the view and the quiet.
Robyn and John are excellant hosts just like old friends. We have added Woodbank River Cottage to our "stay again" list.
