Ngaranui beach is close by for lazing around ,swimming and more great surfing .Raglan Township is an 8 min drive from Whale Bay and is a beautiful haven where you can lounge around in the local Cafes or Shop at the unique local stores which offer most supplies, art & local handcrafts plus whole lot more. Ruapuke beach and Ngaranui beach are nearby and are great surf and swimming spots .Raglan ( Whaingaroa )Harbour has great safe fishing and awesome windsurfing ,Kitesurfing, Waterskiing and kayaking. Ski fields 3 hour drive (winter only). Its 1.5 hours drive to Waitomo caves and 2 hours to good surfing beaches on the east coast and 2 hours drive to Rotorua or Auckland. Your hosts are long time local surfers, kite surfers, fishing, mountain and out door enthusiasts and are more than happy to offer local knowledge where required.
