The house at Totara Avenue is a wonderful retreat. Somewhere to relax and escape.
It's on a beautiful, golden 10km beach that is directly opposite Farewell Spit. It has a safe, sandy beach and a BBQ everyone will enjoy.
At night you look out to the lighthouse's blinking lights at the end of the Spit and the 360 degree sweep from Pillar Point lighthouse on the West Coast. Taking a day tour to the Spit is one of the must-dos in Golden Bay!
Two minutes from Pakawau, or half an hour from Takaka, leave the city behind.
The house is very private with large 100 year old Totara trees at the back and the sound of the seaside at the front. The main bedroom and lounge/dining room look out to the sea with spectacular views of all Golden Bay and Farewell Spit.
Sunbathing seals sometimes drift by with their flippers in the air, while you're relaxing on the deck!
And Gannets with 2m wings glide by and then dive for fish from 30-40m. Nearby groups of Oyster Catchers and Godwits roam the beach.
The house can accommodate up to six people. It is self-clean and you will need to bring your own bed and bathroom linen and towels.
To aid in your quest for good food you will find a crab pot, net, fishing tackle and barbeque. There are plentiful shellfish beds of cockles and pipis 50M from the house.
Fishing from the rock wall at high tide is also great fun.
The house sleeps 4.
A further 2 can be accommodated in the sleepout.
Full kitchen facilities are provided.
Single bathroom.
Crockery and cutlery are provided for eight.
Full laundry facilities (washing machine and dryer).
