Karamarina Bay is a private bay located roughly halfway between Te Mahia and Portage (both are 10 minutes drive away).
FACILITIES
Separate units are nestled within lush native bush on an extensive beachside property. Kowhai Cabin (sleeps 4 in 2 rooms: queen and twin) and the Chalet (sleeps 6 in 3 rooms: queen, twin and bunk with ensuite and tea & coffee making facilities) share an independent dining and living area, and an independent kitchen and bathroom facility. A dinghy, kayak, canoe, lifejackets and two 2 tonne (small boat) moorings is included.
Your booking will ensure exclusive use of all facilities.
Portage Resort Hotel just 10 minutes drive away has a shop, restaurant, snapper bar, boat ramp and hires sea kayaks, sail and motor boats.
ACTIVITIES
The location is ideal for swimming, snapper fishing, water skiing, sailing, kayaking, biking and walking or simply lying on the sunny and sheltered north facing beach.
Queen Charlotte Track and Mistletoe Bay nature trails nearby.
WILDLIFE
In the bay you will find: Weka, Morepork, Tui, Bell birds, Quail, Glow-worms, forest weta, mussels, crabs and starfish.

Access to Karamarina Bay is by road or water taxi.
By road from CHRISTCHURCH 6 hours, NELSON 2 hours, BLENHEIM 1.5 hours.
By Water Taxi - we are happy to collect and drop-off guests at Portage when they catch the Cougar Line water taxi service. Taxi services run to meet the Inter-Island Ferry and connections from the airport giving easy access from WELLINGTON or AUCKLAND.
