Karori Native Bird Sanctuary is within walking distance and Otari Native plant reserve is around 5 kms away. Close by also are the Kelburn Village shops that includes 3 cafes, 3 Restaurants, Fish and Chip shop take away Malaysian Cuissine, Fashion Store, Supermarket, Florist, Chemists,Antiques,Wine Shop, German Bakery, and Souvenir shops to name a few. Advantage of this location also is its proximately to the Wellington CBD and famous "Lambton Quay Shopping Mile" The busiest shops in the country. A bus stop is also situated outside the front door and of course the Cable Car can also be used to take you to Lambton Quay. The Westpac Stadium (cake tin) The Super 14 "Hurricanes" and the "Lions" rugby teams home ground as well as 'The Phoenix" Soccer team (NZ's one and only team in the Australian League) also Rugby World Cup venue half an hours travel by public transport and around 3-9Ks by car.

Had a lovely break. Everything I needed was provided. Very close to Cable Car and local amenities. Managed to ge to the Botanic Gardens and Bird Sanctury as so close. Would definitely stay here again.

Great location we stayed the night prior to an early morning flight while on the way to a conference in Dunedin. Nice and clean warm with the central heating and I was able to use my computer for email access.

Wellington is known for its numerous restaurants and Cafes (more restaurants than New York) offering fine cuisine from many ethenicities. The nightlife in Wellington is vibrant and the nightclubs on most nights are open until 6am in the morning. Wellington is known as an Arts and Crafts Centre and there are often exhibitions such as Wearable Arts (annualy) and Festival of the arts which attracts many overseas artists as well as the Film Festival. Westpac staduim is another attraction which is located by the Wellington Railway Station. Te Papa is another interesting venue that has thousands of overseas and local vistors annually. There are a lot of wonderful beaches in Wellington City and "Weta Workshop' in Miramar is a major attaction along with various venues where the Lord of the Rings was filmed. Red Rocks is a great area to go for a hike and once you hit the red rocks entering from Ohiro Bay you will come across a colony of seals who are there most times of the year.
