6 mins from city beaches but on country fringe, 7 minutes from R&V and 10 minutes to country wineries. For visitors to NZ, Gisborne is a 50 min flight from Auckland or Wellington , with multiple flights per day or a very nice drive on one of NZ's most scenic highways. Gisborne is a popular tourist destination being the first landing place of Captain Cook to NZ and the first meeting place of Europeans with the mighty iwi of Tairawhiti and is famous for surfing, camping, fishing,hiking, wine and agriculture and summer and spring festivals.
